Beetlejuice: Escape from Netherword takes guests on a thrilling ride-along with Beetlejuice as they help him escape from the Netherworld and crash the annual Universal Monster Ball.
This is a queue design concept for Universal Studios Hollywood - designed to occupy the former House of Horrors building. Because most of the IPs presented in the queue were black and white films, the show sets would ideally be painted in monochrome or heavily muted colors. The ride, an indoor linear induction coaster through the Monster Ball party, did not have to be designed for the project.
Overall Story: All of Universal's famous monsters are out at their annual monster ball. Beetlejuice, unable to attend the party due to being stick on the "other side," is caught off guard as a group of the "living" (Guests) wonder into his realm. Seeing this intrusion as an opportunity to renter the world of the living, Beetlejuice employs the help of the Guests and takes them along to the party.
Queue Story: Since all of the monsters are away at the ball their homes are left empty. Guests wonder through their elaborately decorated lairs on their way to the ride, frequently noticing hints that the monsters have all left for the ball.
